What's up peopz,
The SJW crew jus' wanted to send a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to House Mother Mara, the woman and mind behind Street Jamz Werkout. We gotta give it to her for bringing SJW flav to a number of us who have been yearning for a healthier pathway. Her infectious, hella hyper, short attention spanned self has brought a number of us together to swerk it, dance, cherish old friendships and foster new ones.
Mara has always been at the forefront of creativity through dance. It was good ole Bacon who was one of the FIRST, yes FIRST people to bring hip hop dance choreo to the 808 in the 80's alongside with Yo-yo, MC Hammer's former backup dancer. Mara has an unreal gift of being able to hone in on the best of the best dance music and translate that into choreo for all of us to learn, dance and get one mean cardio workout...it's always been that way with her.
Mara has trained and established the foundation for MANY dancers in the 808, and a number of them have taken Bacon's dance foundation and discipline to yet another level in the dance scene. Many of Mara's former dancers have also stepped forward into the professional arena and have even opened their own companies and dance studios. But all who really know Mara know that there's one famous individual who was nurtured under and mentored Bacon since he was a lil kid...Gil Duldulao. Gil has since then become one of the world's top choreographers and dance directors and has been the dance guru with the greatest of entertainers including Janet Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Prince, Ricky Martin and Tina Turner, just to name a few.
Despite Mara's claim to fame for being the springboard of dance and dancers in the 808 at all levels, her humble yet high octaned energetic self continues to inspire, motivate and move people in a positive metaphoric, emotional and physical manner.
So here's to you, my sistah, our sistah...Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday day Mara!
